Description of Duties: |
Under limited supervision, provides leadership, and coordination in the development and implementation of the Career Guidance and Counseling program in the Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) division. Duties include, but are not limited to planning and directing administrative functions of the Career Guidance and Counseling program to implement a comprehensive K-12 college and career counseling and guidance program that will; promote career awareness at the elementary level, career exploration at the middle school level and career development at the high school level; providing statewide leadership and direction for implementing workshops for all guidance counselors in grades K-12 to enhance the guidance programs offered to all students; provide leadership and direction to increase opportunities for seamless transition to postsecondary and career opportunities; provide leadership to develop, implement and maintain school-to-career guidance activities using resources available to all Georgia schools including the Career Information System, Career Centers, and Student Profile Planner/Planning Guide; assist the Georgia Department of Education with identifying course offerings which are challenging and appropriate for graduation requirements and career plans; assist with the integration of Common Core Standards in all Career, Technical and Agriculture Education courses; provide supervision for state level guidance and counseling personnel; and serving as a team members or leader for onsite compliance reviews and/or technical assistance site visits. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Master’s degree in education, education administration, career and technical education, or a related field and three years of experience in the career guidance/counseling area at the local school, system, or state level. Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission educator certification. Note: Must submit required certification documentation with resume and cover letter or application. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Previous successful administrative experience in K-12 education
• Considerable knowledge of and experience with CTAE programs, students and teachers
• Previous successful experience with implementing and maintaining a career center
• Specialist degree in education or higher
• Active engagement in guidance education
• Previous successful experience providing supervision for guidance programs and personnel
• Considerable knowledge of and experience in the management of projects
• Previous successful experience in the development and implementation of innovative guidance and counseling programs
• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Excellent writing skills, verbal communications, and a research experiences |
Salary/Benefits: |
Pay grade 19 – Annual salary range $52,172.55 (minimum) to $91,137.94 (maximum). Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment and relevant education/training and work experience and available funding. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement. |
