Description of Duties: |
Under limited supervision, advises school food authorities in the development of grant applications, grant proposals, budgets, and program plans related to food safety and security. Duties include coordinating the monitoring of grant recipients' program compliance and progress using established standards based upon federal and state authority; communicating to local agencies correct and accurate interpretation of state and federal authority in the area of food safety and security; reviewing and approving system kitchen plans for both renovation and new building projects; coordinating and teaching the ServSafe® sanitation and safety course annually to local system school nutrition directors and state level staff; and monitoring local system performance. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Master’s degree in education, education administration, nutrition, public health, or a related field and three years experience in a full-time professional capacity in environmental or public health at local or state level which involves interpreting state or federal regulations and evaluating grant programs. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one
or more of the following:
• Professional experience evaluating public health programs
• Food safety certification from the National Restaurant Association (ServSafe®) or equivalent
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience in interpreting state/federal laws |
Salary/Benefits: |
Pay grade 17 – Annual salary range $43,063.23 (minimum) to $75,523.31 (maximum). Starting salary dependent on current employment, training, experience, and available funding. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance; annual/sick leave; and Teachers Retirement or Employees’ Retirement. |
