Description of Duties: |
Under limited general supervision, provides leadership to local school systems receiving Striving Reader Comprehensive Literacy Project grant funds. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing technical assistance to local school system personnel; collaborating with teachers, other instructional staff, administrators, community members, and relevant service providers to ensure the implementation of program goals and guidelines; maintaining clear and positive communication between the State of Georgia Department of Education, Regional Education Service Agencies (RESAs), local school systems, and schools. Note: Extensive statewide travel is required |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Master’s degree in education, education administration, reading or a related field and three years of full-time experience with K – 12 ELA, reading, and/or literacy programs. Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification. Note: Must submit required certification documentation with resume and cover letter or application. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
• Georgia professional educator certification in Reading Specialist
• Education Specialist or higher degree
• Five years of full-time experience with K – 12 ELA, reading, and/or literacy programs
• Experience supervising professional staff
• Experience in a leadership role in K-12 public education at a state, regional, or system level
• Experience managing federal grants
• Strong knowledge of the Federal No Child Left Behind Act
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Access |
Salary/Benefits: |
Pay Grade 18 - Annual salary range $47,280.21 (minimum) to $82,962.30 (maximum). Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training, work experience, and available funding. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement. |
