January 25, 2012 -- State School Superintendent Dr. John D. Barge today announced the new State Board of Education leadership team. The bylaws require the State Board to vote during the last meeting of the year to elect new leadership. These changes became effective January 1, 2012.

"We are excited about the this new leadership team and look forward to working with them as we continue making education work for all Georgians," stated Dr. Barge.

Georgia State Board of Education
The Georgia Board of Education with the State School Superintendent, will provide the statewide leadership necessary to ensure the opportunity for each public school student to be successful. The State Board will work to create an environment in which local schools and systems are empowered to develop policies and programs that meet the educational needs of their students, that support teachers, and that involve parents and communities in the education process.
